Blog moved to the personal website, from Ghost to Jekyll
After self-hosting my blog at my home for 2 years, I’ve decided to move my blog from Ghost to Jekyll for simplicity and to have everything in one place.
I’ve used ghost-to-jekyll-converter to migrate my posts, huge thanks to the author, it saved me a lot of time. I had to manually migrate images and got some help from Antigravity to fix the formatting issues with images, codeblocks and LaTeX math.
I’ve decided to shift my writing to be more detail-oriented and technical. Since I’ve left my job and started doing Masters, my focus has shifted towards research. I am a huge fan of distill.pub style posts, they look very clean and easy to read. But I didn’t like the way my Ghost blogs looked, they had bunch of spacing and posts that were informationally dense looked very cramped. Al-folio’s default layout is much better for this purpose.
My RSS feed is now at https://dogac.dev/feed.xml.
I’ve created manual redirects for all my old posts to preserve SEO value.
I will discontinue the email list for now, mostly friends were subscribed and I don’t think I will be writing enough to justify maintaining it. I will try to use social media to announce new posts.
Now I have two less things to worry about, maintaining Ghost and availability of my blog.
